Back Yard Paradise

Out in Bergen County, a luxurious deck remodel. The sprawling family property was Dina’s dad’s pride and joy. Today, Dina carries on the tradition of taking meticulous care of the home he created there. Their deck out back overlooks a wooded nature preserve complete with babbling brook and leaping fawns. It was Dina’s mom’s favorite place to take in sunny summer afternoons. I enjoyed Mrs. Carillo’s company throughout the build that summer as she watched the transformation take place. It was important to me that I do a justice to this central family retreat, working in a way that reflected the exacting care that both the client and her father have shown their home.

We reframed the support structure of the deck and installed durable, low-maintenance Trex decking. We updated the look with a fresh color palate that was more to Dina’s taste and new custom stairs and railings. Making use of the Trex line of rail-integrated lighting, summer evenings on the deck are now suffused with pleasantly moody light. Additionally, a roomy storage area was created by enclosing the space underneath the deck. Now patio furniture and pool accessories can be neatly tucked behind the stylish sliding barn door. As an homage to the old deck, built to the family’s design, the decking was laid in a chevron pattern. It is to my great pleasure that visiting friends and relatives continue to sit out here and enjoy the pleasures of this tranquil back yard paradise.
